Disney Has Lost the Right to be the Model for Family-Friendly Entertainment.

A place where once dreams came true is quickly turning into a nightmare.

Disney recently spoke out against an “Anti-Grooming” bill that is being falsely labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, despite it NOT mentioning “Gay” once in the bill.

Now, if you actually took the time and looked beyond the emotionally-driven clickbait, you would see that the bill bans school employees from giving classroom instruction on “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” in kindergarten through the third grade.

If you think teachers should be talking about sexual orientation with children, you should really take a step back and realize how disgusting that is. Teachers are essentially strangers, and strangers freely discussing topics of sex with children is nothing short of grooming.

In general, talking about anything related to sex is something that belongs to the parent, not to a school. Growing up, I had the mindset that homeschooling was harmful and that it was weird to shelter your kids. I will gladly be that “weird parent” in order to protect my children from the dangers that lurk in a public school classroom, aka the modern Sodom and Gomorrah.

Recently a leaked Disney executive call showed that Disney is beginning to push what one executive called “a not-so-secret gay agenda” in their films, shows, parks, etc. The goal is to have at least 50% of their content have this push.

Disney recently decided to put a same-sex kiss in their upcoming movie “Lightyear”. By the looks of their marketing, you can not tell this film will feature any of that. Many parents will take their children to see this not knowing what they are pushing in the film. I assume the lack of marketing is intentional, as Disney is smart enough to know this would hurt them at the box office if parents knew.

As a Christian, and (Lord-willing) future parent, how do we respond? I love going to the movies, as it has been an obsession of mine since my father took me to see “Toy Story 2”. The theater-going experience is hopefully one I can share with future children, so it is terrifying to know that may not be possible. If Disney is peak children’s entertainment, it is only a matter of time until other studios follow the mouse’s lead.

As someone who has loved Disney growing up, it breaks my heart to see this happening. Do we still give money to the theme parks? Do we still subscribe to Disney+? Obviously there is such great older family-friendly content on there, but is that enough to justify keeping it? I am sure a lot of Christians are asking themselves the same questions.

I think one thing is for certain, Disney has lost the right to be the model for family-friendly entertainment.
